I am Aarti Chidambaram, a Singapore-based counselling psychologist, betrayal trauma specialist, supervisor, trainer, speaker, and founder of Discovery to Recovery.
My work centres on supporting partners, individuals, and couples navigating betrayal trauma, relational rupture, broken trust, boundaries, grief, self-doubt, and the long journey back to safety and self-trust.
People often come to this work when the ground beneath them has shifted — when they are trying to understand what happened, what is real, what is safe, and how to begin finding themselves again.
Discovery to Recovery was
A space where healing is not rushed.
Where truth is not bypassed.
Where safety, dignity, discernment, and reclamation matter.
For many years, I have sat with partners and individuals in the aftermath of betrayal and relational injury. I have witnessed the shock of discovery, the grief of broken trust, the confusion of attachment injury, the collapse of self-trust, and the deep exhaustion of trying to survive something that is often invisible to the outside world.
This work has taught me that betrayal trauma is not simply a relationship problem.
It can affect safety, reality, identity, attachment, boundaries, the body, and the ability to trust one’s own knowing.
My role is not to rush clients toward forgiveness, decisions, or repair before they are ready. My role is to help create enough steadiness for truth, safety, grief, clarity, and choice to begin to emerge.
My work is trauma-informed, partner-sensitive, relationally accountable, and deeply respectful of pacing.
I hold space for the complexity of recovery — the grief and the love, the anger and the longing, the fear and the hope, the need for answers and the need for safety.
I believe healing must hold both compassion and truth.
That means we do not minimise harm.
We do not bypass grief.
We do not rush repair.
And we do not lose sight of the person who is trying to find their way back to themselves.
Together, we work toward steadiness, self-trust, boundaries, emotional clarity, and values-led next steps.
I hold a Master’s degree in Psychology and a Bachelor’s degree with Honours in Psychology. I am a counselling psychologist based in Singapore and the founder of Discovery to Recovery.
I am an APSATS Certified Clinical Partner Specialist and Supervisor, and am recognised as the first and currently only APSATS Certified Clinical Partner Specialist and Supervisor in Asia. I also serve on the Board of Directors of APSATS as Secretary.
I am a Certified Clinical ERCEM Specialist and ERCEM Supervisor, supporting work with couples impacted by betrayal trauma and professionals learning to hold early relational recovery with greater safety and sensitivity.
My training and practice integrate trauma-informed and relational approaches, including APSATS’ Multidimensional Partner Trauma Model, ERCEM, Gottman Method training, Brainspotting, CBT, DBT, Gestalt-informed work, somatic therapy, NLP, and attachment and developmental trauma frameworks.
Alongside individual and couple work, I have facilitated one of the longest-running therapeutic support groups for partners of betrayal trauma in Singapore, and possibly Asia.
I also create and facilitate partner-focused retreats, workshops, and intensive healing spaces, including Wings of Hope, a seven-day betrayal trauma intensive retreat in India.
These offerings are designed for partners who need deeper support, structured reflection, grief work, embodied healing, and values-led movement toward reclamation.
I provide supervision, consultation, and training for therapists, counsellors, coaches, and helping professionals working with betrayal trauma, boundaries, partner-sensitive care, and relational recovery.
As a TEDx speaker and international presenter, I also teach and speak on betrayal trauma, boundaries, relational repair, partner-sensitive care, and healing after relational rupture.
In this work, we begin with safety.
We honour what is true.
We listen for what has been silenced.
And slowly, carefully, we begin the work of returning to self.
